and then there was one

My brother just moved out to his new East Village apt (it's about time. He's 26 years old) and my sister went off for her senior year of boarding school. So I'm the only one around for my parents to nag. Sigh. I'm so excited to move into my new place. I'm also excited to be living with Miko again. Since my mom's allergic, Miko has to live at our country house for now, and I only get to see her on weekends. She's lonely. Everytime I go up there she runs to the door and gives me lots of cheek kisses and head butts. Poor baby. I also don't like how she insists on going outside. The other day she got stuck 12 feet high in a tree and couldn't get down! My Dad had to climb a ladder to get her. Silly girl.

working girl

Last week I started working here - the Antiquities department at Christies. They deal with Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and all that good stuff. It's really interesting and everyone is so nice. I'm only an intern working 3 days a week. But my hope is that I will have full-time work at Christies in the not too distant future. We shall see.

I've started giving myself a crash course in Ancient Art through books and free lectures/guided tours at the Met. It feels good to be learning again. And I signed up for a weekly evening Italian class that will start at the end of September.

I'm also babysitting to earn some extra cash. For Labor Day weekend I went to the Jersey Shore with a family to help look after their two children. A nice little paid vacation at the beach. And I even got to play some blackjack in Atlantic City and make some more money. yay!
